In this video we chat about the Broadway musical Finian's Rainbow and learn how to make a Mint Julep!

👉🏼 The musical was a huge hit when it opened in 1947 and remains a classic to this day. It's about an Irishman and his daughter who steal a pot of gold from a leprechaun and move to the United States to plant the gold near Fort Knox where they believe it will grow. Their plan goes amiss when people inadvertently start making wishes over the place where the gold is buried and those wishes start to come true. The musical introduced a string of hit songs including "How Are Things in Glocca Morra, "Old Devil Moon, and "Look to the Rainbow."

Today the mint julep is largely associated with horse racing and is considered the signature drink of the Kentucky Derby, but it has a theatrical history. One of the earliset mentions o the drink comes from a play from 1770 written by Robert Munford which featured a drunkard character named "Mr. Julip." 🥃
