Former Polk County Administrator John Norris and The Harkin Institute Director of Wellness and Nutrition Adam Shriver present the findings of the CISWRA report that found nearly 80% of the nitrate of the Central Iowa watershed is from agriculture. They discuss policies Iowa must implement to adequately address its water quality crisis and the politics involved in doing so.
"Currents of Change", the Central Iowa Source Water Research Assessment (CISWRA) report that was released last summer, is the most comprehensive, scientifically-based water report ever conducted in the Des Moines and Raccoon River watershed.
The work of 16 scientists over a two year period resulted in this 200+ page report originally presented during an August 4, 2025 meeting at The Harkin Institute.
