Описание: Why did the U.S. Navy retire the F-14 Tomcat even though it was superior? The F-14 was built for air dominance, with swing wings, extreme speed, and a powerful radar that could track 24 targets and attack six at once. It outperformed the F/A-18 in speed and altitude. But by the 2000s, the Tomcat had one fatal flaw: maintenance. It was expensive, complex, and time-consuming to keep flying. The F/A-18 Hornet was cheaper, easier to maintain, and more modern, while still handling every mission the Navy needed. So in 2006, practicality won over performance, and the F-14 was retired.
