Bait Finesse System Casting is a great tool for presenting light and ultralight lures delicately and accurately to "educated" fish. The use of specially-tuned, ultralight baitcasting reels allows light lures to be cast.
Originating in Japan BFS is used for both finesse Bass fishing and mountain river trout (amago and yamame) and char (iwana) species
Within those schools of finesse fishing, there are lots of very practical casting skills that help lure anglers cope with the common obstructions of overhanging branches, boulders and other snags.
One of the most useful confined-space techniques is flip casting - which in BFS is modified from standard "flipping" found in bass fishing with heavier gear. The significant detail here is that the Bait Finesse System version of the cast uses the extreme flexing of the rod to create rotation of the spool.
The regular bass fishing version with heavier rigs involves pulling line off the spool by hand and then "swinging" the lure out while letting go of the loose line.
The timing of releasing the spool is vital to getting the lure to fly out on a low, flat trajectory. In this video, I'm using a 3-g cheburashka lure weight (weighing a little under 1/8th oz).
