On the ninth day of CGTN's special program, "Real Time China," our reporter Sun Ye is at the birthplace of Dr. Sun Yat-sen in Zhongshan (the town has adopted his Chinese name in memory of him), south China's Guangdong province, to learn about his early years and the upbringing that made him who he is.
Dr. Sun Yat-sen is known as the “great revolutionary and a great statesman.” He led the Revolution of 1911 -- the Chinese democratic revolution which overthrew the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) -- and so put an end to China's two millennia of feudal rule. Dr. Sun Yat-sen is also the founder of the Kuomintang Party, a medical doctor, writer, philosopher, and calligrapher.
