We have recorded an emergency podcast today to bring some stuff to light than many people may not be aware of about UK Law in education that we have until 26th October 2025 to do something about.

Nachelle Crowther (FRSA) shared something with us about the Children's Wellbeing & Schools Bill (2024) that is currently going through parliament.

The Bill contains measures many of us can support - improved safeguarding for vulnerable children, breakfast clubs in primary schools, and better oversight of children not receiving suitable education. However, several provisions raise significant concerns about parental rights, data privacy, and the balance between state oversight and family autonomy - particularly around home education requirements and compulsory registration systems.

Whether you're a parent, educator, or simply care about children's wellbeing and educational freedom, this legislation will impact you.

We're asking you to take three actions:

1. Educate yourself
Read the Bill and understand its implications. Don't rely on soundbites - look at the actual provisions and how they might affect families in your community.
2. Consider signing the petition
Over 150,000 people have already signed a petition calling for amendments to protect educational freedom while maintaining child safety. Consider adding your voice. (https://petition.parliament.uk/petiti...)
3. Write to your MP

This isn't about opposing child protection - it's about ensuring legislation achieves its safeguarding goals without unnecessary erosion of parental rights and family privacy.

The Bill is at Report stage. Time is short. The deadline for action is approaching.
