President Hakainde Hichilema has called for increased investment in renewable energy to enhance Zambia’s energy security and drive sustainable economic growth.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by Commerce, Trade, and Industry Minister Chipoka Mulenga at the opening of the 4th Canada–Africa Business Conference in Lusaka, President Hichilema emphasized that clean energy investments are profitable for both the country and investors.
He also expressed gratitude to Canadian firms for their contributions to Zambia’s mining sector, describing mining as a pillar of the national economy.
Canadian High Commissioner to Zambia Emily Burns highlighted several sectors with strong potential for collaboration, including infrastructure, renewable energy, agriculture, and education.
Meanwhile, Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Director General Albert Halwampa reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to support potential investors, noting that Zambia is increasingly becoming a priority investment destination.
