Tomato seed packets usually suggest starting seeds 6–8 weeks before your last frost date — and that’s a helpful general guideline. But over time, I realized that using that date without thinking through my actual transplant timing was causing problems indoors.
In this video, I share how I’ve adjusted my seed-starting schedule to better match when my garden is truly ready. If your tomato seedlings have ever gotten too large under lights — or required more pot-ups than you expected — this might give you something to think about.
It’s not about whether the seed packets are right or wrong. It’s about aligning the timing with your own growing conditions.
