California Governor Gavin Newsom has broken his silence on the violent protests that broke out at a TPUSA event.
Protesters disrupted a Turning Point USA event on the campus of UC Berkeley in California.
The protest saw people clashing with police, blasting the late Charlie Kirk and attempting to stop people from entering the event.
A spokesperson for Newsom’s office has spoken to Fox News, where they said “violence is not a legitimate exercise of First Amendment rights”.
“While people have the right to protest, it must be done peacefully,” they said.
Users on social media have slammed Newsom for his response, calling into attention the severity of the protests.
