Hi ,this is Piali. In this video I have explained coral reefs formation and types of coral I have demonstrated the different types of coastline like Ria coastline ,Dalmatian coastline, fjord coastline etc.

coral reefs one of the important features of surface topography have deep connection with the the bottom of the ocean. coral reefs are confined in a zone between 25° north -25 ° coral reefs are masses of limestone and dolomite accumulated by lime secreting organisms known as coral polyps which are green ,yellow ,violet and white in colour.

Conditions of growth:

1. Temperature of seawater
2. sediment free water
3. platform
4. salinity

Types of coral reefs:

1. Fringing reef
2. Barrier reef
3. Atoll
Theories of origin of coral reefs:

Subsistence theory put forth by Charles Darwin
