Chaos and disorder broke out in the Harehills area of Leeds overnight as crowds torched and overturned vehicles and threw items at police officers. It's understood the trouble was triggered by children being taken into local authority care.
The home secretary Yvette Cooper says she is "appalled at the shocking scenes" and police expect to make arrests in the coming days.
