Hey guys! Please leave me any terminology words/phrases I didn't cover in the comments! I'll answer as best I can!
**EDIT**
More Terms
RON - When the aircraft remains overnight. Whether at a base or an outstation. Pretty much last flight of the day.
BASE - One of your specific airlines focus cities. Cities where pilots and flight attendants are assigned too. Usually has maintenance readily available.
OUTSTATION- A city where your particular airline flies too but is not a base or focus city. You do not have supervisors, or crews there for pilots and flight attendants. Usually a smaller station for just the ramp and gate crews.
SLAM CLICKER- This is a funny one and a slang/ made up term for flight crews who do not like to hang out on layovers. They go straight to their rooms slam the door and click the lock.
SENIOR MOMMA/PAPPA - Someone who has been with the airline for a long time and has great seniority. Probably also gets everything they bid in terms of layovers, vacation, and working positions.
GALLEY QUEEN - Refers to a position a flight attendant can work. Being the back galley queen. The FA who is in charge of all the carts, carriers, organizing and restocking for the next crew/flight. A galley queen can be known as someone who is antisocial and doesn't like interacting with guests but that is not always the case.
CRASHPAD - Shared living space either a house/apartment usually targeted for reserves. You pay for these places on your own. Usually for commuters who do not live in the city in which they are based. You can choose between a hot bed (a bunk bed not assigned to you, when you arrived you get what's available) or a cold bed ( your own bunk, not shared) Crash pads range in price depending on the city and can range from like 5-30 flight attendants! The person running the crash pad provides everything like toilet paper, sheets, beds etc you provide you own food and extras.
REDEYE - A flight that takes off at night in one city and lands in the arrival city in the morning. An all-nighter. It's called a redeye cause when you land you've been up all night and exhausted hence have redeye.
FAA - Federal Aviation Administration. Pretty much the government agency who oversees anything with aviation.
FAR- Federal Aviation Regulations- Exactly what is stands for. Written laws every airline must abide by.
