In Mirpur, under Naoda police station in Murshidabad, a man named Seken Shah spotted an unusual white-colored bird among a flock of egrets while inspecting his onion field in Tumtala. As he approached, all the egrets flew away, but the new white bird was unable to take flight. Shah carefully rescued the bird and took it home, arranging food for it.

As soon as the bird was brought home, many villagers gathered to see it. Through internet searches, it was identified as a Great Black-Headed Gull or Pallas's Gull, a species of seabird. The owner expressed his hope that the forest department officials would come and take the bird into their care. Otherwise, they were willing to nurture it themselves, as releasing it back into the field might put it at risk from foxes and stray dogs. Villagers believe it is safer to keep the bird at home rather than leaving it vulnerable in the wild.
