John William Waterhouse
Rome 6 April 1849 - London 10 February 1917
Is a British painter famous for his drawing inspired by myths and literature, and focuses in his paintings on women.
His parents are painters: William and Isabella Waterhouse. John was five years old when the family moved to London, where his father taught him to paint until he joined the Royal Academy of Art in 1870, and in the summer of 1874 Waterhouse presented his first painting for exhibition at the Academy under the title (Sleep and His Half-Brother Death).
