Why Does Life Look Like a Message?

When we zoom out and look at the universe, we discover that life depends on an incredibly narrow set of conditions. But when we zoom in—down to the microscopic level—we find something just as astonishing: DNA.
DNA doesn’t function like random chemistry. It functions like information. Like a code. Inside every living cell is a set of instructions that store data, copy themselves, and translate that information into life.
In every other area of experience, when we encounter real information or meaningful patterns, we naturally assume intelligence. That’s why scientists search space for signals that show order and intention. If we received a simple repeating message from outer space, no one would assume it happened by accident.
So here’s the question this episode explores:
If information points to intelligence everywhere else, why is it so hard to consider that the information inside life itself might point beyond itself?
This episode isn’t about attacking science. Evolution explains adaptation and change. The deeper question is more fundamental:
How does the first code come into existence at all?
How does a system capable of storing, copying, and translating instructions arise in the first place?
For me, DNA is one of the reasons I believe the universe—and life itself—looks less like an accident and more like a message.
