The Chicago Short Line (now the SCIH) is one of the most unique common carriers in the Chicagoland area. Tucked away along the Calumet River on the city's south side, this railroad primarily serves the former Inland steel mill (now Cliffs) and the North America Stevedoring site just up the tracks from its small yard along S Ave. One a random Monday 5/12, one of their SW1001's works the north end of their yard, and headed over to NASCO. The last video is from the following day with one of their SW1500's shoving down to the old Inland steel mill.
0:00-4:42 working the north end of their yard between the Calumet River and S Ave
4:43-6:25 running light engine up to NASCO
6:26-8:08 returning from NASCO, crossing over the diamond with the now abandoned former EJ&E line to the US Steel South Works site, just behind where I was standing
8:09-9:11 the following day at Front St in Whiting, IN.
