The motet is a form of polyphonic vocal music that originated in Europe during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, initially employing melodic overlays set to Latin texts.
Later, with composers such as Josquin des Prez, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and others, the motet 'evolved,' incorporating vernacular languages, becoming more intricate with additional voices and more complex textures.
The composition "Moteto" embodies these characteristics. In addition to the overlay of independent voices, we utilize structures of Just Intonation. Our primary goal, however, is to enable the performance of the piece by amateur choirs.
The poems are by Lucas Miranda and can be found on this website: Poemas.
