In an age in which social and digital media play a central role in modern journalism, this roundtable highlights how trolling, user interaction, and sexism, specifically impact women in news and storytelling. Panelists discuss what it means to be a woman in media and politics in the Trump Era, from being a woman politician navigating coverage to a woman reporter tackling the newsroom and the press conference.
"Sexist Coverage and Covering Sexists: Gender, Politics, and New Media" was the third roundtable at "The New Normal? Women, Media, and Politics Symposium" on Friday, April 28, 2017.
This roundtable is moderated by Khadijah White, Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University.
