Elftopia • A Renaissance Faire in Belgium

Описание: Soooo we went to Elftopia!
I was very excited to go to another fantasy/scifi/renfaire style event, and to once again hang out with ViscountCornelius, but I will say that I had more gripes with this event than I did with Elfia. We both still enjoyed the event, and this is not supposed to be a hate-fest for Elftopia – but as congoers, I think we are also entitled to have our own opinions on cons and to criticise stuff, especially things like photographing people without their consent or cultural appropriation etc. There also were a few vendors selling blatantly AI-generated “art”, 3d printed shit and these MASSIVE K-POP and Anime Fandom surprise goodie bags that I feel like are so scammy, because usually they are filled with shit gotten off dropshipping sites sold for way more than they are worth. All that was pretty disappointing to see, especially since those stalls took up a lot of the space in the front, and all the actual artists’ stalls were a lot more toward the back and harder to find. However, the artists at the event were all super lovely, and I am so happy with the artworks I’ve purchased from them this weekend.
BUT! All in all, I had a good time, despite any criticisms I had! I got to hang out with my friend, I got to explore a gorgeous venue, I bought some fantastic art from real human artists, and I got to finally, after eight years of looking, try Melona ice cream. So this was a successful con for me for certain.
