Correct specification and preparation of water pipework is essential when planning for utility connections, especially when working with providers like Yorkshire Water or other regional water networks.
In this video, we walk through the requirements for 25mm water pipe installations, highlighting what developers and contractors must do to meet network standards:
In Yorkshire Water’s area, the pipe must enter the building with a stop tap, and continue out to the boundary, ready for connection
The boundary end must be sealed, either with tape or a mechanical end (the latter being preferred)
An excess length must be left at the boundary for Yorkshire Water to pick up during connection
If the ground is contaminated, a barrier pipe may be required instead—this is a denser pipe that protects water quality
Outside of Yorkshire Water's area, specifications may differ slightly—mechanical ends and inspections of internal fittings are often required before connection
Utility Source ensures developers understand and meet these requirements the first time around, avoiding rejected connections and costly rework.
