John Schaeffer and Nantzy Hensley harvested a crop of lavender from their mountaintop labyrinth in Hopland, California, on June 30, 2013. The flowers were distilled on-site into hydrosol and essential oil by master distiller Stefan Fitzer of Old Tree Essentials.
SunHawk Farms is an entirely off-the-grid organic and biodynamic farm overlooking Hopland and the Solar Living Center. The farm produces three crops: lavender, wine grapes, and olives for a delicious extra virgin olive oil.
