I describe how David Widerker defends the principle that moral responsibility requires alternatives from alleged counterexamples proposed by Harry Frankfurt. Frankfurt argued that one can be morally responsible, yet have no alternatives to the action for which you are responsible. Libertarians typically disagree and as a libertarian, Widerker argues that the examples Frankfurt provides fail to accomplish their intended goal. In part 1 we consider a fairly details attempt at showing the libertarian principle fails because it faces a problematic dilemma.
