So today is the last video on Endodontic Microbiology.
In this part III on Endodontic Microbiology, I have discussed about the different types of endodontic infections, and what type of microorganism are present in those infections.
Endodontics is simply the science of the internal anatomy of the tooth, that is the pulp of the tooth. And the hence the field endodontics deals with the anatomy, the pathology and the treatment that is concerned with the pulp of the tooth.
Pulp of the tooth is located in the core of the tooth, protected by two layer of hard tissues. The pulp is where all the blood vessels and nerves lie and provide nutrient and vitality to the tooth.
Endodontic Infections are broadly classified into Extra-radicular Infections and Intra-Radicular Infections.
Intra-Radicular Endodontic Infections are further classified into Primary Endodontic Infections, Secondary Endodontic Infections and Persistent Endodontic Infections. Each of these have their own bacterial composition, and characteristics that a Dentist or a Dental student needs to know in order to successfully eradicate them.
