At State Soccer, we don’t just run drills — we develop intelligent players.
In this session, Coach Pelle (from Holland) uses guided discovery to help the kids understand one of the most important concepts in soccer: finding space.
Instead of telling them where to run, he asks questions.
Instead of giving answers, he guides them to think.
The game? Spider-Man Tag.
Two players hold bibs (the “spider webs”) and try to tag the others. The rest of the players are dribbling their soccer balls, moving into space, using skills, changing direction, and protecting the ball to avoid getting caught.
Through this fun, high-energy kids soccer game, players learn to:
• Recognise and move into space
• Dribble with control under pressure
• Change direction and use simple skills
• Keep their heads up while scanning
• Make decisions independently
This is how we teach football intelligence at State Soccer — through play, questioning, and problem-solving.
Our kids soccer classes focus on developing confident, creative players from an early age. Every activity is age-appropriate, engaging, and built around real game situations.
If you’re looking for quality kids soccer training in Sydney, State Soccer offers:
• Weekly kids soccer classes
• Holiday soccer camps
• Team training sessions
• Programs starting from 18 months old
We believe the best way for children to learn soccer is by thinking, exploring, and discovering solutions themselves.
