The late composer Richard Robbins is not a well-known name, but thanks to his collaborations with director/writer James Ivory he has scored some excellent films. This film relies heavily on established opera pieces, but the original music is also just right.
Starring Helena Bonham Carter (in her film debut), Maggie Smith, Denholm Elliot, Julian Sands, Simon Callow, Judi Dench, Rupert Graves and Daniel Day-Lewis (in a delightfully unusual role).
