Описание: The death toll from a boat accident on Nigeria’s Yobe River has risen to 29 after four more bodies were recovered, officials said on Monday. The wooden vessel capsized on Saturday evening while travelling between Jigawa State and Yobe State, carrying dozens of passengers.

Officials said the boat was transporting 52 people, mostly farmers, fishermen and traders returning from markets. Thirteen survivors were rescued and treated at a local hospital before being discharged. Police and emergency officials cited overloading and possible structural defects as likely causes, noting that such accidents are common on Nigeria’s inland waterways due to poor safety standards.
