China Executes 11 Members Of Telecom Fraud Crime Group

The convicted individuals were part of the notorious Ming family criminal group, which operated large-scale cross-border telecom fraud, illegal gambling, and violent crimes targeting Chinese citizens.

Authorities said the group had been active since 2015 in Myanmar’s Kokang region, where it ran multiple crime compounds and provided armed protection for fraud syndicates. Investigations revealed that fraud and gambling-related funds linked to the group exceeded 10 billion yuan, causing massive financial losses to victims.

The group was also found responsible for serious violent crimes, including murder, intentional injury, and unlawful detention of workers forced into fraud operations. These crimes resulted in the deaths of at least 14 Chinese nationals and injuries to many others.

China’s top court ruled that the crimes were extremely severe, with clear evidence and lawful judicial procedures, and upheld the original death sentences after appeals were rejected. The executions were carried out by the Wenzhou Intermediate People’s Court in Zhejiang Province.

The case underscores China’s intensified crackdown on telecom fraud networks operating in northern Myanmar, following joint law enforcement operations between China and Myanmar aimed at dismantling cross-border criminal syndicates and protecting citizens.
