On Sunday, January 18, 2026, around 7:04 PM, I recorded an unusual aerial event while driving in Temple, Texas.
The object initially appeared similar to the moon or a bright planet, but it began moving, changing shape, and producing a sudden illuminated cloud or ring in the sky. The light source appeared to continue moving after the illumination event, which made the moment extremely disorienting in real time.
This video is shared as raw footage only. I am not claiming this was any specific phenomenon.
Some viewers have suggested this may be related to high-altitude rocket activity or atmospheric illumination, which I’m open to exploring. If anyone has informed explanations (aviation, aerospace, or atmospheric optics), I welcome them.
