We have been traveling full time since November 2020. Our current goal of visiting all 50 states has been delayed, but we haven’t given up. Keep following along to see what we're up to next.
We hope you’ve enjoyed a little bit of our drive along Route 66 in California. Next we're going to continue on through Arizona and we're going to start off in Oatman, Arizona. Sometimes Route 66 is a little confusing. We found that the easiest way to get between Needles and Oatman is Arizona 95 and K Street in Needles. Of course I-40 crosses the border between Arizona and California and then it's a simple matter of getting onto the Oatman Highway from there.
In our last video when we arrived in Arizona late at night we showed you a quick glimpse of some of the donkeys that walk right up to our truck. They do that in Oatman too, so let’s get there as quickly and safely as possible. This town shows how Arizona does a great job of preserving the history of Route 66. Technically Oatman is a ghost town. It's a Ghost Town that refuses to die. Oatman is the town that housed the people that mined the gold that was used to fund World War I. The residents are still maintaining the classic feel here with the old original buildings and support of Route 66 that runs right through the center of town. And because it's a ghost town that makes this a great place to go for any type of Halloween activities. So keep that in mind for October.
We stopped by the Oatman Restaurant and Hotel to get some breakfast. The food was amazing here and the walls were decorated with $1 bills. We were too early to be able to take part of the saloon side but they do have mimosas and Bloody Mary's available upon request. Carroll Lombard and Clark Gable once stayed in this hotel. Be aware that the busy season is going to be starting in January and continuing on through bike week. Yes they have a bike week here.
A Ford Mustang car club came through town and we were able to enjoy those beautiful vehicles and the friendly people that were visiting town with us. And then we got to witness a gunfight between actors from the local community. That was really funny to be a part of. They did a good job.
The last part of this drive takes us into Kingman Arizona but not before passing by The Cool Springs museum and gift shop. We highly recommend taking the time to stop here and check it out for yourself because it's in the process of being restored back to its old glory. Even some of the Ford Mustang car club members stop by to check it out for themselves.
That concludes this trip, however there are many more to follow. Make sure you like and subscribe as well as select the notifications bell so you can keep up with us. We would also love to hear your thoughts on the video so go ahead and leave a comment below. And as always, Squeeze the Day!!!
