Haunted by a story I heard on NPR (no kidding), I took months to research and write this song, then would not perform it without driving it individually past two respected, Latino musicians and asking for corrections and feedback: Tomas Montoya and Dr. Jose Cuellar, who both played with me on the track we produced for No Mas Muertes. Grecia Cruz and her uncle were both lost in the Sonoran Desert in mid-June 2007. This is for them.
This video is my submission for NPR's 2024 Tiny Desk Concert: a way of paying them back and an issue, given our current state of affairs, that is pressing on us all.
