Our Spotlight this week - in a special International Women's Day episode - is the incredible Shari Mendes, Founder and Director of Israel Lemonade Fund - Israel’s first and only emergency relief fund which operates nationwide, providing financial support and aid to breast cancer and gynecological patients, helping them manage illness-related expenses. Shari is originally from New Jersey and is a qualified architect.

Her experience surviving breast cancer inspired her to create the Lemonade Fund, turning her personal challenge into a source of hope for others. They offer aid to all patients across Israel, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or gender, enabling them to focus on recovery without the additional burden of financial stress.

Since 2010 she has also been a member of an all-women's reserve unit in the IDF, tasked with all of the procedures required to care for deceased female soldiers. This includes accompanying the soldiers during the identification process and preparing them for burial.
