The annual Al Dhafra Camel Festival is a one month camping trip for camel breeders throughout the Gulf region. The highlight is the camel beauty contest where breeders show and trade the best of the breed for millions. Falcon competitions, Saluki dog competitions, Arabian Horse races and an antique car show lead the list of events and activities for everyone.
The annual Liwa Date Festival unites palm date growers throughout the region. The date palm is an essential component of desert life, as is the camel. Cash prizes for the best dates and date products foster education, agricultural farming and reinforce cultural traditions.
At the annual Tal Moreeb Dune Festival, the exciting roar of methane powered drag racers, SUV's, 4 x 4's, quads and motorbikes challenge the steep Tal Moreeb dune. Known as one of the tallest sand dunes in the world, this week long event and a favorite with the locals, is set among the backdrop of majestic colored sand dunes of exquisite beauty. A 24 hour symphony of engines roaring and buzzing.
