The 10 best routes up

Описание: In this series, @HillsfortheHead will take you on a video journey showcasing all 10 of the different routes up Yr Wyddfa (#snowdon), the highest mountain in Wales (and England), and highlighting why each one of them is the best.

In this video, we go up in some below average July weather via the Rhyd-Ddu Path, and return to the Nant-y-Betws valley by the Snowdon Ranger path.

If it is your first time on Snowdon, these paths are perhaps not ideal, as this side of the mountain is much quieter than the Llanberis / Pen-y-Pass side.

The Rhyd-Ddu path is well marked and has a mix of terrain underfoot, evolving into an ever more mountainous path as the altitude increases. It finishes with a short section of the South Ridge, so is best for those who like it quiet, and are already familiar with the joys of exposure at the top of cliffs and on ridges.

The Snowdon Ranger path is another well made and well marked path, but the upper part can be tricky in fog, luckily this upper section is marked with plenty of cairns before it crosses the railway to join the Llanberis path and the Pyg and Miners tracks from the opposite side of Bwlch Glas. Although the Llanberis path hosts the International Snowdon Race, the Ranger path, because it is less crowded, if you’re fit enough, is best for running up.
