1 - Research the options available to finance your company.
Many entrepreneurs plan to use government subsidies and grants, or possibly venture capital, to start their business. Investors, Keith reminds us, want equity. And that is the most expensive type of money there is. He suggests another possibility: the customer. Getting customers to pay up front for the development of a product means less expensive capital.
2 - Take a pitch training.
As an informal investor, Keith has come across so many entrepreneurs who pitch, but don't actually ask for anything. Describing your product or service is only one-third of a pitch. The most important thing is you, the entrepreneur. Finally, what do you have to offer to me, and what do I get in return?
