I'm attempting to cycle every route on South Korea's cross country bicycle network. My first challenge is to cross from the northeastern capital of Seoul to the southeastern port city of Busan, over ancient trading routes, mountains and major rivers.

Join me on this journey to see parts of Korean culture and heritage that you won't find in the touristic spots and to find out how far you can get on your own steam.

Today I'm cycling down from Jeomcheon on the Saejae Mountain Pass and joining the Nakdong River. Instead of heading straight downstream to Busan, I'm taking a 200km detour to visit the city of Andong, famous for Hahoe Folk Village and ancient Buddhist temples including the oldest surviving wooden building in Korea. I'll explore these places and more in the next video!

CORRECTION - at 6:29 my subtitle says "to pray for the rain", but should be "it's a shrine, a place where they pray to the stone". The word 비 usually means rain, but in this case it refers to the 비석 carved stone shown at 5:43.
