This is a loose poppy painting which demonstrates at least ten different techniques used by watercolour painters.
1. Wet in wet washes
2. Controlled bleeds
3. Calligraphic marks
4. Blotting out
5. Wet on dry
6. Veiling or layering
7. Spattering
8. Lifting out
9. Over painting
10. Lost and found edges

I used Alizarin Crimson, Quinacridone Gold, Olive Green, Black and Cobalt Blue.
I used a sheet of Arches 140lb NOT watercolour paper
The brushes were a large squirrel mop, a large Isabey mop, a ½” flat brush and a No. 4 rigger.
