FGC Virtual Gathering 2020 - Prayer, Poetry, and Music in the midst of Quarantine and Injustice

Описание: In the Monday Evening Plenary for the 2020 FGC Virtual Gathering, Dr. Amanda Kemp, Dr. Michael T. Jamanis, and their son Matthew Woodson shared a spiritually-grounded night of prayer, poetry, and music for Friends.

Dr. Amanda Kemp, Founder of Racial Justice from the H.E.A.R.T. is a racial justice and mindfulness mentor. She completed undergraduate studies at Stanford University and earned a PhD from Northwestern University.

She helps leaders who are tired of living in a white bubble have a strong voice for racial justice and diversity.
She is the author of Stop Being Afraid: 5 Steps to Transform your Conversations about Racism, a workbook for individuals who want to be more effective in racial justice.
Her memoir Say the Wrong Thing: Stories and Strategies for Racial Justice and Authentic Community is used in high schools and colleges throughout the U.S.
Amanda Kemp is also a Visiting Scholar at Franklin & Marshall College and the winner of the 2018 Advoz Dignity in Dialogue Award.
In her capacity as a Board member of the Lancaster NAACP, performing artist, and master teacher, she has helped over 25,000 people have more open-hearted conversations about racism and compassionate community.

Dr. Michael T. Jamanis received a Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School, a Master of Music from Yale University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Rutgers University.

He has been the recipient of numerous awards throughout his career, including the Lincoln Center, Victor Herbert, Metro-Media and National Federation of Music Clubs Awards. In addition,

Currently, Michael directs the “Music in the Schools” program sponsored by the non- profit organization Music For Everyone based in Lancaster, PA. This program, funded by public and private sector, engages professional musicians and student mentors to enhance the music programs at primarily inner city schools. Jamanis is also a senior adjunct assistant professor at Franklin and Marshall College, director of the string ensemble and instructor of strings at Lancaster Catholic High School.
