Jaffna Crab Curry | Temples & Navy Escort | Northern Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Описание: Jaffna Part 1: We finally make it to Northern Sri Lanka, starting with a journey through Elephant Pass, the gateway of Jaffna Peninsula. It was where the civil war was largely fought and now has become a symbol of peace and unity. Food is what connects cultures most, so we start by visiting the Fox Resort to eat their legendary Jaffna Crab Curry and visit their underground Bunkers used during the war, which has now turned into an art gallery.

After a night's rest, we meet up with the Sri Lankan Navy to get a private escort to the island of Nainativu, where we visit the two most famous temples in the North of Sri Lanka. First is Nagadeepa Raja Maha Viharaya, the ancient Buddhist temple where Gautama Buddha himself visited five years of attaining Enlightenment to settle the dispute between two warring Naga kings, Chulodara and Mahodara. It was there that I got to meet the Chief Head Monk of the Northern Province, Navadagala Paduma Kiththi Tissa Thero.

On the same island, we visited the Hindu Temple, Shaktipeeth Shri Nagapooshani Amman Temple, Nagadeepaya. நயினாதீவு நாகபூசணி அம்பாள் திருக்கோவில்.

Local Ferries are available at the Kurikadduwan Jetty for around 40lkr (20cents). It's a 1 hour drive from Jaffna town and a 25 minute ferry to the island.
