Welcome to Sensible Secondhand Classics, the series where we take a sensible classic car worth between £1000 and £5000 and put it through its paces in a very straightforward manner! This time we test a perfectly preserved 1983 Austin Metro 1.3 Vanden Plas and celebrate the miracle milestone that is 4,000 subscribers. We experience characteristic A-Series whine, an inability to find third gear, wooden door caps and a leather steering wheel, surprising space efficiency, confusion about badging and generally little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward then!
