Anyways allow me to go on a mini tangent about the characters here:
Emily Montgomery- Named that after a Lucy Montgomery novel called “Emily of New Moon” and is also the namesake of the AU itself. Her ability is to manipulate and observe memories by physically touching the other person
Yoshihide Akutagawa- The black haired guy in red often featured with Emily is named after irl Ryuunoske Akutagawa’s character Yoshihide from his short story “Hell Screen”
The two were raised together by Akutagawa and are very close although Akutagawa was always harsher on Yoshihide
Also the blushing ginger featured is called Kazuko and is named after the main character from the Osamu Dazai novel “The Setting Sun”

Other stuff:
The girl at 1.02 is a grown up Aya design. I hc that Akutagawa raised Aya after the Dostoyevsky incident which is why she’s mentioned
Fun design thing about younger Emily is that I gave her similar hair (the two strands either side) to Akutagawa to show how even though not biologically related Akutagawa still had influence on her since she was young and even prior to when her parents died
Also when she’s found in the wardrobe that is directly after her parents died

Rough plot of AU:
Emily Montgomery is returning to Yokohama years after the death of her parents had initially forced her out. However, as she starts digging into the past of her parents she finds a collage of secrets being hidden from her by the man that raised her, Akutagawa. Amongst all of this she comes across a man named Dazai who seems to know more about her past than she does. Meanwhile, Akutagawa grapples with a resurgence of a past he’d hoped to forget and of feelings he’d hoped to keep buried. Unfortunately thats impossible with a girl running around as the literal embodiment of the people you loved
