Bossa Nova is a HUGE part of the "jazz" universe --- and I could play bossa's all night long! When you play bossa's in a restaurant, you can literally see all the women in the room start to move their legs to the music. The rhythm is irresistible.
Wave (Vou Te Contar in Portuguese or "I'm Going to Tell You") is a Jobim favorite. It was actually first recorded by Jobim as an instrumental; he wrote the lyrics a few months later. Frank Sinatra and Lani Hall (with Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66) turned it into a radio hit.
A little bossa nova is always a good time to break out my beautiful nylon string guitar (made by Kurt Sand in Laguna Beach).
