Описание: OAKHAM | Full walking tour of Oakham Town Centre and Oakham Castle, Rutland, England.
We visit Oakham, a town situated just 25 miles east of Leicester, 28 miles south-east of Nottingham and 23 miles west of Peterborough.

I had heard about Oakham being a beautiful town in England so wanted to see it for myself, and explore the marketplace, the Buttercross and castle as well as the town centre.

We start our tour of Oakham at Oakham Railway Station before heading along Melton Road to take a look at the beautiful thatched cottage of Sir Jeffery Hudson who was a famous dwarf and a noteable person to live here in the Town Centre.

From there we head down Northgate to see the houses and buildings that some give this town the title of most beautiful town in England for. At the end of Northgate is the Wheatsheaf Pub and the beautiful All Saints Church on Church Street.

We head down by the side of the church and into Market Place and Market Street where we pass Oakham School and the Buttercross. Wandering round the shops we take a look around the Town Centre although there was no market in Market Place today!

Next up is Oakham Castle and The Great Hall which is still standing. Not much left of Oakham Castle sadly apart from the Old Great Hall itself.

Back onto Oakham High Street and down Mill Street which is a fantastic little street of shops here. We also pass through The Maltings on Mill Street.

Onto Oakham High Street again next and down past Victoria Hall, Gaol Street, New Street and then back town to Oakham Railway Station.
