This was the day before the start of 130km Dordogne Integrale race in 2018. It's an awesome event conducted every year which started off as a canoe / kayak event. Organizers eventualy opened up the discipline to invite few number of stand up paddlers assuming that the distance was not attainable for such a sport. They got surprised by the finish in that premiere year 2017 when local Dode Florent finished on par with the other paddle crafts, in fact faster than most. They then decided that its definitely achievable for us who hunger for distance and adventure racing! The number of SUP registrations have since threefold to 70+ equal if not more to the rest of the registration signalling the rise to the sport in the region and around with international athletes showing up at the start line.
