SOUTH AFRICA'S POPULATION, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS & THE COST OF DEPORTATIONS: BUILD THE WALL?

Описание: South Africa’s population has now passed 63 million people, this is according to the latest mid-year population estimates for 2024. Released by Stats SA.

But even though we know this number there’s another number that we don’t know and that the number of illegal/ undocumented immigrants that are in the country.

That number is crucial in SA starting to address and unpack the illegal immigration problem. But the departments tasked with compiling these numbers aren’t willing to give us clarity. Nor does this seem likely to change.

There’s also a socio-economic cost to illegal / undocumented migrants and we need to start understanding that above the noise.
