0:07 -- ADDENDUM #1:
I made this video just before my "Introduction to Dostoevsky (As Philosopher)" video. I didn't release it, because I didn't feel like I had a strong enough grasp on some of the spiritual themes. I wanted to let my thinking mature, then come back and rewrite/re-edit. However, my life took many unexpected turns after that, and now, I feel too different from the person who originally made this video to still have the right to edit his work. I've decided to leave everything pretty much as it was. Besides adding these white screens, my only change was recording a line that was originally left silent.

6:13 -- ADDENDUM #2:
Speaking of lies, I definitely made up that Wiggenstein quote. I remembered it from a TV documentary series called "Sea of Faith" (1984), but I confused analysis of Wittgenstein's ideas for a direct quotation. I didn't know many mystical or religious thinkers when making this video. Plotinus or Pseudo-Dionysius would have been better examples. Or more generally: Neoplatonism, Apophatic/negative theology, and/or Hesychasm, since all of these things would be directly or indirectly influential on Tarkovsky as a Russian Orthodox Christian.

8:35 -- ADDENDUM #3:
I actually saw some Bruegel paintings in-person recently. They were really cool. Especially, "Fall of the Rebel Angels". I almost always end up regretting random negative comments like this. Dismissing stuff we don't initially like can be incredibly convienent, since there's too much cool stuff in the world to learn to enjoy all of it, but as an educator, I should probably be encouraging people to broaden their horizons, not narrow them.

18:00 -- ADDENDUM #4
I never finished that footnote, since I wanted to read more Dostoevsky first. Tarkovksy wrote in his diary, "I must read everything Dostoevsky wrote." That line inspired me to read almost everything Dostoevsky wrote (post-1849) and then make a 40-minute video about him. Watch that if you want a better idea of where Tarkovsky is coming from intellectually, especially in regards to the "death of faith". Also, I wouldn't criticize others for their pronunciation of Russian names, but I am half Russian and grew up hearing Russian my whole life, so yeah, I should pronounce "Dostoevsky" better.
