My tasty and super healthy lunch recipe made with Jowar, Sorghum and a host of seasonal vegetables. Packed with beneficial nutrients and Antioxidants, the whole grains, sprouts and soy Chunks makes this Jowar Pulao rich in protein, Fibre and iron. Suitable for losing or maintaining weight.
Ingredients to make Jowar Pulao/ Sorghum Pulao / Tehri for weight loss :-
1/2 Cup Sorghum/Jowar 1 tsp olive oil
1 tbsp Rice 1 star anise
1 Small Onion 1 Bay leave
1 tomato 3-4 cloves
2 tbsp mung dal sprouts 1/3 tsp turmeric
1 carrot 1 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tbsp sweet corn Salt to taste
Some soy chunks 1 tsp Coriander Powder
1 small Capsicum Chill to taste
Water as required
Method to make healthy Jowar Pulao to lose weight :-
Wash & Soak 1/2 cup Jowar in water for 4-5 hours or overnight. Pressure cook the soaked Jowar for 5-6 whistle.In a pan heat 1 tsp olive oil, add 1 star anise, bay leave, cloves & Cumin seeds.
Add chopped onion, once translucent add tomato & cook until soft. Add salt and rest of the spices.
Add Corns, mung Sprouts, carrots, Capsicum & Soya chunks.
Add cooked Jowar, washed rice & spinach. Add 1/2 cup water, cover & let it cook on medium to low heat for few min. Sever warm with Buttermilk/Chaas or Curd
Jowar/Sorghum, touted as INDIA's Quinoa is rich in protein, Fibre & iron. It is gluten free & control sugar. It's considered as one of the healthiest grain in the world.
