On Saturday, October 18th, 2025, American citizens gathered for a second round of No Kings protests nationwide to show their commitment to each other, democracy, and to oppose the abuse and overstep of powers at work in the current presidental administration. This was just one of the nearly 2700 protests across 50 states.
Near the end of this rally, at the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park, one of the leaders of this event mentioned a benediction that took place at the rally, hours earlier, north of here, in Livingston, Montana. This rally was ended with that same benediction--a pledge to the flag.
Afterwards, a special moment took place with the crowd breaking into song. Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land".
This song is a favorite of mine, and it felt so fitting being here at the birthplace of the national parks.
