This work was the first Impressionist painting in the NGV Collection. Joining the Collection on the heels of the Impressionist movement in 1905, this painting was met with some critique in the press but went on to inspire many. NGV Senior Curator Dr Ted Gott offers some insights into Pissarro’s influences.
