In a world of packed schedules, constant enrichment, and endless supervision, childhood has started to feel very managed. But what if one of the most important things our kids need isn’t more structure — it’s more freedom? In this talk, Kendra makes the case for free play — the kind that is child-led, immersive, sometimes loud, often messy, and deeply formative.

Discussion Questions
1. Where has play gotten crowded out in your family life? What would it look like to protect a 1–2 hour block?
2. What is your “default no”? If you were to pause and ask “Why not?” — could the play be modified instead of stopped?
3. Where is your “yes space”? If there isn’t one, what small shift could create more freedom — even if it’s temporary or imperfect?
4. How comfortable are you with boredom — theirs and yours? When your child says “I’m bored,” what rises up in you? What might change if you saw boredom as a doorway instead of a problem?
