Major Robert Drake Carter, MBA, AN, CCRN is a native of Dayton, TN and is the son of Toby and Debbie Carter. He attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN as an Army Nursing ROTC scholarship recipient. In May 2010, he graduated as a distinguished military graduate and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps.

Major Carter is currently serving as the Commander of the 10th Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment, El Paso, TX. His previous assignments include: Commander - Task Force Medical, Kosovo Forces 26, 2019-2020; Commander - 175th Surgical Detachments, Ft. Campbell, KY, 2018-2019; Clinical Nurse OIC – Intensive Care Unit – Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Ft. Campbell, KY 2017-2018; Clinical Staff Nurse, Intensive Care Unit – Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI, 2014-2017; and Clinical Staff Nurse, Telemetry and Progressive Care Unit – Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Ft. Gordon, GA, 2010-2013.

Major Carter’s military education includes the AMEDD Officer Basic Leaders Course, the 66S Critical Care Course, AMEDD Officers Advanced Course, Clinical Nurse OIC Course, Company Commander Pre-Command Course, Entry Level Executive Nurse Course, In-resident Intermediate Level Education, and was selected and attended Iron Majors Week 2022.

Major Carter completed a Master’s of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Healthcare Management from Liberty University in 2014, and achieved a Master’s in Operational Studies from the Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS in 2021.

Major Carter’s decorations and awards include The Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, The Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, The Army Achievement Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, The Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, The Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Non-Article 5 Medal, the Air Assault Badge, and The German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (Gold).

Major Carter and his wife, Leslie have been married for nine years and three children, Brooks (6), Brody (4), and Emery (2). They also have a 9-year-old Weimaraner named Henry. They love everything about family, the outdoors, and supporting their local community.
